A Colorful Tale of a Garden in the Making

Project: Pumpkin Head

Pumpkins aren’t just for carving, although I do love roasted pumpkin seeds and carving does require that you dig them out. But instead of carving, I like to create pumpkin heads, some what reminiscent of Mr. Potato Head.

First I gather my “surgical instruments.”

Then I collect my body parts. I dug them up from the garden, of course.

Now I just need my subjects.

S-s-su-sub-jects (gulp).

After a bit of experimentation, my pumpkin heads come to life.

Mr. and Mrs. Pumpkin Head

Jeepers creepers where’d ya get those peepers?

All ready to greet our trick and treaters. I think Mr. Pumpkin Head has his eye on Mrs. Pumpkin Head (wink, wink).

Happy Halloween!

  1. I love thee! Very creative and so full of character!

  2. They are so cute! I like them better than the carved ones.

  3. When I was a child we never had Halloween but today in the street were children dressed in black and at the supermarket there was a roaring trade in pumpkins. Your efforts at pumpkin carving and decorating are very impressive.

  4. How very creative and clever! I would never have thought to see your body parts . . . that the end result could become creepy but Mr. Pumpkin is a bit. Love the way you presented all of this . . . your subjects have taken on the body parts quite well. Fun post! ;>))

  5. I saw the first two photos and got really excited to see what you'd create. I LOVE IT!!! I'll really have to remember these beautiful and whimsical pumpkins for next year. If you see my pumpkin you'll think lame lame lame!

  6. Wow..these are spectacular!!! Such fun and spirit!yay!

Thank you for joining me in the making of my garden!
